The Atlanta Hawks have officially found their new head coach.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Atlanta has agreed to a five-year contract with former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder.
Snyder replaces Nate McMillan, who was fired last week after posting a 29-30 record to start the season.
Per Wojnarowski, Snyder will make his debut with the Hawks on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards.
“The move to take over the Hawks immediately is rooted both in the desire to make an Eastern Conference playoff run and to give Snyder a chance to start implementing his program and standards and evaluating the franchise’s players on the way into the offseason,” Wojnarowski writes.
Snyder, 56, went 372-264 in eight seasons running the Jazz from 2014-2022. He led Utah to the playoffs in his final six campaigns, advancing as far as the Western Conference semifinals three times.
Atlanta is currently 31-30 and in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, 3.5 games back of the sixth-place New York Knicks.
