Nice win to snap a mini-losing streak.
The Hawks faced the Miami Heat on the tail end of a back-to-back. The starters remained the usual as the Hawks looked to get back into the win column.
Mo Gueye scored the first five points while making his seventh start of the season. The Hawks led 12-10 before the first timeout. Both teams played like it was a back-to-back. Terance Mann made a three just before the buzzer to give the Hawks a 23-22 lead entering the second quarter. Mann then had a forceful slam as the Hawks led by one possession.

Neither team shot well from deep, and the Hawks benefitted from the Heat missing 15 of their first 17 three-point attempts. The offense picked up toward the end of the half thanks to threes by Georges Niang. The Hawks led 50-42 at halftime. Niang led the team with 11 points, and Okongwu scored nine.
Early in the third, Gueye threw down an emphatic slam to give the Hawks a 60-47 lead. The Heat crawled back, but the Hawks stayed on top. At the end of the third quarter, the Hawks led 73-65 after Capela’s dunk was waived off after the buzzer. They forced a timeout early in the fourth while leading 82-73. They maintained a six-point lead with a little over three minutes remaining. After throwing a turnover, Terance Mann hit a three-pointer, followed by a floater from Trae Young to put the Hawks up 95-86. With a little over a minute left, Caris LeVert picked Tyler Herro’s pocket and dished it to Okongwu, who was fouled. His free throws extended the lead to 11. Dyson Daniels logged his sixth and seventh steals to close the game out.
The Hawks had six players in double-figures, with their three newcomers combining for 41 points.
