Conversely, one of the brand’s four signature athletes from last year, Hawks point guard Trae Young, is currently out of contract after his Oct. 1 expiration date. A renewal is unlikely, according to sources. Already, both ANTA and Jordan Brand have expressed interest in landing the 25-point and 10-assist ATL staple, though each brand is unlikely to include a signature shoe in eventual offers.

Risacher was still finishing his media duties when he got a call from teammate Trae Young, who told him he had to pick up Chick-Fil-A for everyone. The request came as a bit of a shock for the 19-year-old, but with some help from second-year forward, Mo Gueye, he completed his first rookie task. “So (Mo) had me right,” Risacher said. “He made a list of what everybody likes. … I just had to call and pick up Chick-fil-A and bring everything to the bus. So that was smooth. And I hope everybody enjoyed. “Like they told me, that’s gonna be like during the whole year, (and) some stuff like that. But they’re great guys. So it’s totally fine to do it. And, I never did something like this in my career. So it’s fun. But I think it’s gonna be better, and I’m gonna get used to it. But the first time I was like, super stressful.” -via Atlanta Journal-Constitution / October 8, 2024
Trae Young took to the court Tuesday for the Atlanta Hawks’ first day of practice not in his own signature sneaker from Adidas but instead in a model from Anta. The choice in footwear, which would likely be in violation of contract, comes after a report from Sole Retriever that Adidas will end the guards line after the forthcoming release of the Trae Young 4. Young was seen in a Hawks Instagram post wearing the Anta Shock 5 “Heterochromia,” which released last December. For his Monday media day appearance, however, Young remained in-line with his endorsement by wearing the Trae Young 3, which launched in August 2023. -via Footwear News / October 3, 2024
