Magnifique!
Atlanta Hawks rookie Zaccharie Risacher earned another milestone as he was awarded the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month Award for March. It was also his second time winning the award as also he won it in February. Risacher is the only rookie this season to win the award in back-to-back months.
Risacher played in 14 games during March and averaged 16.3 points per game with a 53% field goal percentage.
The Hawks’ overall record during March was 9-5. The 16 points per game is the most he has averaged in any month during his rookie season. He has consistently gotten better as the season has progressed as shown by his averages in December (9.4), January (11.9), and February (12.8).
In his most recent game, he scored a career-high 36 points against the Milwaukee Bucks. The former No. 1 overall pick has played himself back into the recent conversations of who the NBA Rookie of the Year — an award that should be between Stephon Castle and himself.
Risacher has been a force to be reckoned with lately with several highlight reel dunks, and he is shooting the ball with much more confidence as of late. Overall, he has played in 67 games with 65 starts and averaged 12.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
He currently ranks among rookies in the top 5 in several categories such as total points, made field goals, three-pointers, free throws, and steals.
The rookie has a bright future in Atlanta with Trae Young and Jalen Johnson playing alongside him. He is proving to everybody that he was worthy to be the number one pick in last year’s draft.
