Firing on all cylinders, the Hawks looked to extend their win streak to six with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers at home.
Jalen Johnson came into this game shooting 45 percent from three over the last five games, and started this one with a made three-pointer. Additionally, De’Andre Hunter drilled his first three attempt upon entering the game. Tied at 21, Snyder subbed in Vit Krejci and Bogdan Bogdanovic, shaking it up a bit.

Kobe Bufkin, while healthy, did not play in the first quarter as Vit Krejci took on his minutes. The Lakers led 29-26 after one, and Johnson led the way with seven points. Krejci started the second quarter as well. Johnson assisted Okongwu for a couple made field goals. Bogdanovic made a pair of three-pointers, but the Lakers had an answer each time the Hawks scored.
LeBron was dominant, scoring 11 points in the first seven minutes of the quarter, bringing his total to 17. He and Anthony Davis combined for 39 as both teams sat at 64 entering half.

Johnson picked up two quick fouls to start the second half, putting the Hawks in a bind. The Lakers went on a 13-2 run, building their lead up to 11 points. The Hawks pushed back, thanks to back to back threes from De’Andre Hunter. Trae Young went on to have a fantastic quarter, highlighted by a steal and a deep three.

Young finished the quarter with 15 points, and Hunter added eight. The Hawks trailed 97-94 entering the fourth, though getting much more production from their bench than the Lakers.
Bogdan Bogdanovic gave the Hawks a one possession lead with his third triple of the night. Bogdanovic would then hit is fourth, and no one was more confident in him than Trae Young.

In a unique string of events, De’Andre Hunter drew three fouls on the same possession to get the Hawks into the bonus with over three minutes remaining. In a close one, Dyson Daniels nailed a three pointer, forced a turnover, then hit a floater to take a 116-115 lead.

Later, Hunter made a three to go up two, then LeBron tied it on the ther end. At 119-119, the Hawks had 12.9 seconds remaining and possession of the ball with a chance to win the game. Young got his three-point attempt blocked and the game headed to overtime.
The Hawks immediately took a four point advantage in overtime. Then Max Christie would foul out for the Lakers and Onyeka Okongwu for the Hawks. With 36.9 seconds remaining, Johnson made two free throws to cut the Lakers’ lead to one point. Then, Daniels secured a steal but was blocked on the other end. With around twenty seconds remaining, the Hawks secured possession of a jump ball and had possession while trailing one. Trae Young would hit a game-winning three.
