Barry Jackson: Really impressive stuff tonight. Herro scoring 38 on 19 shots (made 13) was supreme efficiency. Heat at Hawks 7 pm Friday for right to play Cleveland. Mitchell 15 and 8 assists. 109-90 final, as Heat leads throughout.

Billy got outcoached, All-Star Herro exposed All-Star wannabes, Pat Riley owns AK … The Sun-Times regrets the error for questioning “Heat Culture.”
But “Let’s run it back …” because there really isn’t much choice. A colossal failure was on full display this evening! – 9:53 PM

Tyler Herro just called for an offensive foul while taking a 3-pointer. Referees thought he kicked out at Buzelis in the air.
Miami challenging. Would be Herro’s fourth. – 9:34 PM

1H thoughts:
-Bulls had no one to guard Herro
-Giddey was way worse than his box score. Had some nice drives but the Heat aren’t guarding him at all. Giving him a huge cushion even when he has the ball
-Heat’s propensity to blow leads gives the Bulls a small chance still – 8:44 PM

Tyler Herro
— 16 points in the 1st, ties 2nd-most ever in a first quarter in his career
— Ties the most ever by any player in a 1st quarter of a play-in game (Brandon Ingram and Doug McDermott also had 16 points)
(And of course, the period ends with an #ofcourse) – 8:13 PM

Billy Donovan consistently talks about the need to play to Bulls identity. That first quarter wasn’t it, at either end but particularly offensively.
Herro 16 points without a miss. Heat drop 39 on Bulls in 1st. – 8:11 PM

This postseason also represents a great opportunity for Adebayo, 27, and Herro, 25, to continue growing as leaders on and off the court following the trade of Butler. “With the moves we made at the deadline, it’s a tough transition being in something for so long and playing for a certain way for so long and then having to transition midseason and also having guys feel comfortable and stuff like that,” Herro said. “We’ve definitely leaned on each other just to help lead the team, but also as we’re trying to continue to raise our level of play. Leaning on each other and making sure we got each other’s back pretty much on all facets. We talk about just no matter what, we always have to be on the same page. No matter what’s going on with the team, wins or losses, me and Bam always have to be on the same page.” -via Miami Herald / April 15, 2025
“Hell yeah,” Herro said when asked if he feels like the Heat pivoted to the start of a new chapter this season. “Obviously, the season is not over, but I think it’s just building blocks. I feel like as we continue to grow, I feel like we have a legitimate chance to continue to keep getting better, where we can eventually compete for a championship at one point.” The Heat hopes it can prolong its season with a win on Wednesday in Chicago. But Adebayo can already say this season has been the toughest he has been through since being drafted by the Heat in 2017. “Ups and downs, through all the media and everything. Obviously, the 10-game losing streak,” Adebayo said, running through the Heat’s tumultuous season. “You deal with a whole bunch of [expletive] throughout a season and it makes you grateful that I get to be able to play this game. I always think positively about it. I don’t really let the down days get me too down.” -via Miami Herald / April 15, 2025
