Reynaldo López takes the mound against the Redsox and Spencer Schwellenbach takes on the Pirates
The Atlanta Braves are running a split squad today where they will face the Red Sox in a home game and the Pirates in an away game.
Reynaldo López will be making his 2025 spring training debut against old Braves friend Sean Newcomb, as two pitchers on opposite career paths look to get some reps in at CoolToday Park in North Port, FL.
Reynaldo López arguably had the best season of his career last season, while Sean Newcomb has struggled to keep his job the past few seasons.
With it being a split squad day, it was clear we would not see a lineup in either game that was full of projected starters, but the home game does have a healthy helping of big names.

The top six hitters are the likely starters once the regular season comes around. It can be assumed that Kelenic has the edge over De La Cruz, but he is one to keep an eye on.
Over at LECOM Park in Bradenton, FL, Spencer Schwellenbach will make his spring debut against up and coming Pirates’ starter Jared Jones. Both pitchers are in their sophomore seasons.

As could be guessed, the away game has far fewer projected starters, with Arcia seemingly being the only player who was a regular last season. Bryan De La Cruz is in a battle with Jarred Kelenic to get the starting role while Ronald Acuña Jr. is out. Nacho Alvarez is someone to watch as he broke into the majors last season. Curt Casali is battling for a backup catcher role, and Luke Williams and Eli White have a legitimate shot to make the opening roster.
The home game at CoolToday Park can be streamed for free on MLB.com, and can be listened to on WIFN 1340 AM/103.7 FM
Unfortunately, the game at LECOM Park is not on the local radio stations or being streamed.
Both games are at 1:05 Eastern
