The veteran right-hander will join camp as a non-roster invitee.
According to multiple reports this morning, the Atlanta Braves are adding a veteran right-handed reliever to their big-league camp. The AJC’s Justin Toscano was one for several Braves beat writers to post news of the addition of Hector Neris as a non-roster invitee.
Braves signed Hector Neris. He’s an NRI who’ll be in camp today. That means there are 49 players in big-league camp.

Neris, who has pitched in parts of 11 big league seasons, split last year between the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs. In 608 career games, he has averaged 11.1 strikeouts per nine innings and picked up 107 saves. All of his appearances on the mound have come in relief.
Neris spent the first eight years of his career with the Philadelphia Phillies, saving 84 games while serving as the team’s primary closer in 2017 and 2019. His late-inning experience saw him save 17 games for the Cubs last season.
With Atlanta still looking to replace Joe Jimenez, who will miss most – if not all of the 2025 recovering from a knee injury – Neris provides the organization with another, experience late-inning option from the right-side.
Although Neris was only a slightly above average reliever last season, he was outstanding in 2023.
