Mendez has spent 17 seasons with Atlanta’s minor league teams. He began his coaching career with the Braves in 2008 after a professional playing career that began in 1992 and included 26 games with the Baltimore Orioles in 2003. He spent 2005 through 2007 with Richmond, then the Triple-A affiliate of Atlanta. As a coach, he has supported the organization in multiple roles throughout all of the team’s minor league levels.
Quattlebaum joins Atlanta after spending the prior two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks as assistant director of hitting. He also spent time with the New York Mets and Seattle Mariners organizations, including a stint in 2021 as the interim major league hitting coach for the New York Mets.
Both new coaches will be assistant hitting coaches with Atlanta, supporting new hitting coach, Tim Dyers.
