Braves swap out arms on the 40-man roster.
The Atlanta Braves claimed RHP Amos Willingham off waivers from the Washington Nationals Friday afternoon, and designated RHP Allan Winans for assignment.

It’s not really a move that adds pitching depth to the organization, obviously because they dumped Winans to facilitate the transactions, but more replaces some pitching depth with…different pitching depth.
Willingham, 26, has seen very little major league action in his career, throwing 25 career innings with Washington out of the bullpen over a two year span. It certainly wasn’t the greatest 25 innings you’ll ever see with Willingham posting a 7.11 ERA with a bunch of walks and an alarming 9 homers allowed in 25 innings.
He does have options, as did Winans, so best guess he’ll just be organizational filler for the 2025 season, assuming he doesn’t get DFA’d before then, which is no guarantee. The good news is the number of players on the 40-man whose initials are A.W. stays exactly the same, for anyone who was worried.
