Amongst a flurry of roster moves on Thursday, the Atlanta Braves designated outfielder Eddie Rosario for assignment. The move cleared a spot on the 40-man roster for Atlanta to select the contract of right-hander Parker Dunshee. Additionally, the Braves will recall outfielder Eli White and option pitcher Dylan Dodd,
The #Braves today selected RHP Parker Dunshee to the major league roster and recalled OF Eli White to Atlanta. The club optioned LHP Dylan Dodd to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game and designated OF Eddie Rosario for assignment.

Atlanta Braves Designate Eddie Rosario For Assignment
The Braves signed Rosario in early July after Washington cut the struggling veteran. The last time Atlanta acquired a struggling Rosario mid-season, the team won the World Series. Unfortunately, lightning could not be caught in a bottle twice.
This season with the Braves, Rosario hit .154/.181/.282 (26 OPS+) with three homers in 24 games. This production was worse than what Rosario gave the Nationals this year (58 OPS+). Atlanta hoped the veteran would be able to infuse offense into a lineup decimated by injuries and underperformance.
It didn’t take the Braves long to decide to cut Eddie Rosario at 24 games. The Nats gave him 67 games. He was actually worse for the Braves batting .154 with a .463 OPS. https://t.co/dVNLLV9oiJ

Instead, the Braves will designate Rosario and use that roster spot on a better defender in White. The former Ranger has not hit much in his career (55 OPS+) but comes with 13 career Defensive Runs Saved and 11 Outs Above Average in the outfield. Rosario was never a great fielder and seemed to best serve as a DH at this point in his career.
Parker Dunshee
While Rosario being designated by the Braves will get most of the headlines, the promotion of Dunshee might represent the better story. The righty spent eight seasons grinding in the minors and will finally make his Major League debut.
Parker Dunshee strikes out the side in the 6th. He has 4 K’s over 1.2 IP. Keeping us in it.

Dunshee latched on with the Braves on a minor league deal in late January. Though he likely meant to serve as organizational depth, his solid production has earned him a spot on a tested Atlanta pitching staff.
In 47 minor league innings this year, the 29-year-old produced a 2.30 ERA with a 33.7 percent strikeout rate. That said, Dunshee has predominately been a flyball pitcher throughout his career. It’s unclear how sustainable his success this year is, but the Braves are desperate enough to find out.
