Braves start trimming the roster before the calendar even flips to March.
The Atlanta Braves made their first round of Spring Training cuts Tuesday afternoon, wasting no time trimming the roster.
The #Braves today optioned LHP Dylan Dodd and RHP Hurston Waldrep to Triple-A Gwinnett, and reassigned RHP Enoli Paredes and RHP Royber Salinas to minor league camp. Atlanta now has 56 players in camp.

Hurston Waldrep and Dylan Dodd are the notable names, both pitched in major league games last season, and both seemingly entered camp with at least an outside shot at a backend of the rotation spot. Obviously the Braves felt differently, optioning both before we even get to March. Both should have spots in Gwinnett’s rotation to start the season, and depending on their performance, maybe even in Atlanta’s at some point in 2025.
The Braves’ Spring Training roster now sits at 56.
