Schedule
LeHigh Valley IronPigs at Gwinnett Stripers 7:05 PM ET
GWN: Chasen Shreve (1-1, 5.59 ERA)
LHV: Seth Johnson (2-0, 1.88 ERA)
The Stripers will have their work cut out for them because they face the Phillies #12 rated prospect Seth Johnson who has started the season 2-0 with an 1.88 ERA. Leading the way for the Stripers continues to be Eddy Alvarez who has now appeared in 14 games and while he’s hitting just .234 on the season, his walk rate has ballooned his OBP up to .463 and he leads the team in qualified OPS (.910). Eddy has also been a menace on the bases as the left fielder has stolen seven bases while being caught just one time. Garrett Cooper and Luke Waddell round out the top performers for the Stripers as the first baseman and shortstop are, respectively, second and third in OPS (.791, .782).
Chasen Shreve will have his work cut out for him as the IronPigs lineup boast three of the Phillies top prospects including Justin Crawford (#3), Gabrial Rincones Jr (#10), Otto Kemp (#24).
Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Columbus Clingstones 7:05 EST
PEN: Robby Snelling (1-0, 2.61 ERA)
COL: TBD
Columbus are coming off of a victory in their home debut yesterday and looking to keep the positive vibes going as they take on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos – the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. The Clingstones lineup features a few players off to hot starts including Cade Bunnell who has appeared in just four games but has an OPS of .885 to start the season. David McCabe, who has been slotted back at third, is off to a sensational start to the season slashing a robust .375/.568/.667 on the season. After needing Tommy John surgery and, in general, struggling at the plate for a while 2025 is a huge year for David and he’s off to a great start. Finally newly acquired Carlos D Rodriguez has continued his hitting prowess and is slashing .394/.462/.424 in eight games.
They will face off against the Marlins formidable battery consisting of the #8 prospect -Robby Snelling, and #9 prospect Joe Mack. The Blue Wahoos also boast the Marlins #11 prospect – outfielder Kemp Alderman, and the #16 prospect Jared Serna.
Asheville Tourists at Rome Emperors 11:00 AM EST
ASH: Jose Guedez (0-1, 8.59 ERA)
ROM: JR Ritchie (1-0, 1.86 ERA)
The star of the today’s education day special is definitely JR Ritchie who is making third start of the season and has a 1.86 ERA through two starts. JR had small command issues in his last start as he walked three over 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball. He will be backed up four hot hitters leading with Patrick Clohisy who is hitting an impressive .324/.429/.471 and a team leading .900 OPS. Centerfielder Stephen Paolini is off to his best stretch of games as well as he’s also hitting an impressive .304/.414/.435 in seven games this season. Second baseman Ambioris Tavarez has continued his good start as well as he is now slashing .289/.400/.421, while Lisandro Espinoza rounds out the bunch hitting a solid .300/.310/.500.
They will face off against the Astros #4 prospect – catcher Walker Janek, outfielder Luis Baez (#11), outfielder Zach Cole (#23) and perhaps four other top 30 prospects for the Astros (all pitchers).
Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Augusta GreenJackets 7:05 ET
MB: Will Frisch (0-1, 16.20 ERA)
AUG: Riley Frey
Riley Frey aims to make his first start of the season for the GreenJackets and will be backed up by some bats off to really good starts headlined by outfielder Isaiah Drake. Drake, who was seen as a project when he was drafted, is off to his best stretch of games in his career as he is slashing a robust .321/.457/.357. The stolen bases have diminished quite a bit, however, as he has just four on the season to go with two caught stealings. Second baseman Colby Jones is off to a great start of his own hitting .300/.447/.367 while outfielder Owen Carey has continued to open eyes thanks to a strong .286/.359/.371 line. Riley will be facing a Myrtle Beach lineup that consists of just two of the Cubs top 30 prospects – Cole Mathis (#15) and Angel Cepeda (#17).
