Nathan Wiles looks to continue to strong run of play in his third start of the season for the Gwinnett Stripers. Nathan has gone four innings in both of his starts this season and has yet to yield a run, though he has walked a total of four. He will have his hands full as his opponent is the Phillies #8 rated prospect, Mick Abel. Behind Wiles will be a Stripers lineup that scored eight runs in a victory yesterday headlined leadoff man Eddy Alvarez who went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Shortstop Luke Waddell is continuing to have a strong start to the season as well as he went 1-for-3 with a walk and a pair of RBI and is hitting .310 with a .785 OPS. Possible Atlanta Braves outfielder, Alex Verdugo, went 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored himself and is hitting .207 with a .751 OPS. Finally, second baseman Jose Devers has been one of the teams strongest hitters and he too went 1-for-3 with three RBI and is hitting a sensational .379 with a .996 OPS.

The Clingstones look to rebound after a 4-1 loss to the Blue Wahoos yesterday. While the pitcher has yet to be named for the Clingstones, which is quickly becoming a regular occurrence, there have been a pair of offensive performances to watch headlined by Braves top 30 prospect David McCabe who went 1-for-3 with a walk yesterday. McCabe is now hitting .370 with a 1.191 OPS to start the season. Outfielder Carlos Rodriguez went 1-for-4 yesterday and is now hitting .378 with an .847 OPS of his own.

It’s been a rough start for Garrett Baumann who entered the season with high expectations after a sensational first full season in baseball as he’s given up 12 runs (9 earned) in a pair of starts. His last outing he did surrender five runs but just two were earned in the Rome Emperors loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The Rome offense is also looking to rebound as they had just one hit and struck out 12 times in their loss yesterday. The lone hit came from Titus Dumitru who is hitting .250/.341/.333 in nine games. Lisandro Espinoza has been one of Rome’s strongest position players so far, and he is hitting .279/.304/.465 in 10 games. The top performing position player so far, however, has been 2024 draft pick Patrick Clohisy who picked up a walk in yesterday’s loss and is now slashing .297/.413/.432.

Taking the mound for Augusta is 2024 9th round draft pick Owen Hackman who was great in his previous start (5.1IP 2H 1R 0ER 1BB 7K). Following yesterday’s 11-4 victory, the bats look to keep the fun going and it starts near the top of the lineup with centerfielder Owen Carey. Owen went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and and RBI and is slashing .325/.386/.425 in 10 games. Isaiah Drake kept the hot bat going as he went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases and is now hitting .344/.475/.375. Finally, Mac Guscette looks to continue his sizzling season as he went 2-for-5 with three RBI, and a run scored himself in yesterday’s victor and is now hitting .381/.458/.571 in his first six games played.
