News and Notes as the Braves begin their first full week of Spring Training.
On Friday, general manager Alex Anthopoulos spoke at length about the Braves offseason. He mentioned that the one need the Braves had not really addressed was the loss of Joe Jimenez (potentially our for season with knee injury.) But there also was reason to believe the bullpen was the one are of the team that AA could continue to look to add too before the season begins.
And on Monday, the latest and perhaps most notable potential bullpen addition of the offseason occurred. The Braves have brought in Buck Farmer on a minor league deal to see what he can offer in Spring Training. Farmer is likely a known name, as he has had some decent success as an MLB pitcher with the Tigers and Reds. While concerns about velocity from last year may be the reason he was available for a minor-league deal, his track record adds intrigue he could be a viable option for a bullpen role. As the Spring continues, Farmer may not be the last notable name the Braves look to acquire to add to the pen.

One very interesting name to watch this Spring is Jarred Kelenic. Kelenic has seen his expected role change quite a bit over the past year, and also revealed that nagging injuries played a part in his struggles at times last year. Kelenic will have the opportunity to shine to start the season before Ronald Acuna Jr. returns.
