Despite a few needed returns, the Braves struggles on the field continued on Monday.
No on the field result could make this particular Monday a positive for the Braves as they officially placed Ronald Acuna Jr. on the 10-day IL. This was the expected move after it was confirmed that Acuna Jr. would miss the rest of the 2024 season on Sunday.
However, few could have expected Charlie Morton to immensely struggle against the Nationals on Monday. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened in an 8-4 loss. Atlanta has now loss three of four games against both the Pirates and Nationals.
But the hope is that better results could be ahead. Both Sean Murphy and Austin Riley returned to the lineup on Monday. And on Tuesday, Max Fried returns to the mound for the Braves to continue an impressive stretch of outings. If the Braves can win on Tuesday, that will hopefully will be the start of better results moving forward.
