Atlanta Braves news and notes from Friday.
The Atlanta Braves began the homestand on a high note after defeating the Minnesota Twins 6-4. A five-run eighth inning was just what the Braves needed to get back in the win column.

The Braves got down early, after Bryce Elder turned in an underwhelming five innings. Fortunately, the offense finally heated up with a little time to spare, and Braves Country got to witness Drake Baldwin come in clutch.
Alex Verdugo made his season debut, also in underwhelming fashion. He went hitless in five ABs and struck out once. Hopefully he’ll look better tonight, as the Braves try to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. First pitch is slated for 7:15pm ET with Chris Sale on the bump.
More Braves News:
Lucas Braun was brilliant for the Columbus Clingstones on Thursday, lasting nearly seven innings. More in the minor league recap.
