Major League Baseball got a bit of a jumpscare on Monday as there was plenty of talk about a possible “Golden At-Bat” rule. Lucky for baseball fans everywhere (probably), this seems pretty far into the future. Essentially, the rule allows managers to send their best hitter to the plate, no matter what spot is due up in the order. Jayson Stark of the Athletic wrote up several scenarios in which the rule could be used and when it may be implemented.

The Boston Red Sox and closer Aroldis Chapman have agreed to a one-year deal worth $10.75M. Boston has a full 40-man, so a corresponding move is required when this deal becomes official.
More details are emerging from Blake Snell’s deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. There is $66M in deferred money and an option for the 2030 season.
Hyeseong Kim’s posting window is officially open. If no deal is signed within the 30-day window, he will return to the KBO for the 2025 season.
