It was a day for good-byes and hello agains.
The Braves continued to finalize their Opening Day roster while adding depth to the organization when it comes to pitching on Sunday. Ian Anderson was traded to the Angels for Jose Suarez, while the Braves signed familiar face Jesse Chavez to a minor league deal.
Moving Anderson was likely unsurprising to many, as an underwhelming Spring made Anderson seem expendable. As a result, the Braves adding left-handed depth to the Opening Day roster in the form of Suarez. While Suarez himself has struggled in recent years, the Braves may be able to find some value through him early in the season.
In Chavez, the Braves simply added an arm they know to the organization with the knowledge that you can never have too much depth. While it remains to be seen what Chavez still has left in the tank, its hard to deny he has had success in recent years with the Braves.

Justin Toscano provided more context on Anderson’s time with the Braves and the reason why his departure makes sense.
