The Braves are in full swing when it comes to Spring Training.
The Braves have two Spring Training games in the books, and Sunday’s game against the Rays featured one of the more intriguing storylines to follow over the next several weeks in the performance of Ian Anderson. With multiple spots to fill in their pitching staff, Anderson is a sensible candidate for the Braves to consider. However, while only so much can be taken from one performance to start the Spring, it was not an ideal beginning for Anderson.
He allowed three walks and one run over 1.2 innings, as Anderson’s control was a struggle from the start. This has been a concern for Anderson since he returned from Tommy John surgery, and is something that must be significantly better for the Braves to truly trust him with an Opening Day role. While Anderson should get more chances to this Spring, noticeable improvement is needed for him to be a reliable option for the Braves to consider.
