Another day off for the Braves before the rival Phillies come to town.
On Friday, the Braves showed what they were fully capable of as a team and why no one should write off their 2025 season any time soon.
On Saturday, Atlanta reverted right back to the offensive struggles that has defined the start to the season.
So on Sunday, many were wondering which version of the Braves would show up, especially facing a talented arm like Sandy Alcantara. Unfortunately, inclement weather postponed the Braves series finale with the Marlins, which will be made up on August 9th.
On one hand, this means two straight days without Braves baseball, as Atlanta is also off on Monday. On the other hand, with how the season has started, perhaps multiple days off could be a big benefit to help the Braves recharge and find some success as this homestead progresses.
One positive development is the return of Sean Murphy from IL. Murphy’s return could certainly be a boost to both the lineup and the pitching staff. To make spot for his return, the Braves designated Chadwick Tromp for assignment. Of course, that means top prospect Drake Baldwin will remain in Atlanta for the time being. Baldwin’s early season performance supports the decision to have him remain with the MLB club, and it will be interesting to see how the Braves use both Murphy and him in the near future.
