Spencer Schwellenbach gets the ball in the most important series of the year.
The most important regular season the Braves have played in two seasons starts Tuesday against the Mets.
And what makes this series even more important than two years ago is that the Braves likely need to at least win the series just to have a true chance to make the 2024 postseason.
Spencer Schwellenbach will be on the mound for the Braves in the series opener against Luis Severino. If Schwellenbach can pitch well enough to limit the Mets, the Braves offense will hopefully carry over some of the power it showed last week to give him some support.
Because at this point, the Braves have no choice but to win. If they do, they still can control their own destiny. But if they do not, there is a good chance their season will end Sunday.
