Atlanta Braves news and notes from Tuesday.
The Atlanta Braves are rumored to call up their No. 3 prospect in Spencer Schwellenbach to make his MLB debut against the Washington Nationals today.
#Braves are promoting Spencer Schwellenbach from Double A to start Wednesday vs. Washington in his MLB debut. He’s dominated in 2 starts since being promoted to Double-A Mississippi — 17 strikeouts in 13 scoreless innings while allowing 5 hits & 1 walk. He’ll turn 24 in 3 days.

After six successful starts with the Rome Braves this year, Schwellenbach was promoted to Double-A Mississippi on May 14, and though his time was short, he has thrown a couple of gems. He combined for 13 scoreless innings and allowed just five hits. He struck out 17 and issued one walk.
The soon-to-be 24-year-old will fill the role of Bryce Elder, who was demoted last week after a disastrous outing.
