Grant Holmes takes the mound against his former organization.
The Atlanta Braves continue their tough stretch out West to begin the season on Monday night with a trip to Dodger Stadium for three games.
The Dodgers, with their limitless funds and deferrals, look incredible to begin the season. They’re 5-0 with three wins over the upstart Tigers and two over the Cubs overseas. The rotation is excellent. The lineup is talented and powerful. The bullpen is probably the deepest in the game. There are no weaknesses here, and they’ll have the added benefit of an off day on Sunday.
Grant Holmes will make his first start of the season on Monday night after throwing an inning of relief on Opening Day. Holmes was drafted in the first round by the Dodgers back in 2014 and spent five years with LA’s organization before catching on with Oakland and, eventually, Atlanta. Holmes was a revelation last season with a 3.56 ERA and even better advanced metrics across 68+ innings with impressive strikeout and walk numbers.
Holmes will be opposed by Tyler Glasnow, who will make his 2025 debut. Glasnow, when healthy, has been one of the game’s more effective starters throughout his career. Glasnow was terrific with the Dodgers in his first season out west before injuries struck down the stretch with a 3.49 ERA but superb 2.90 FIP and 2.68 xFIP. The Braves lineup, which has struggled mightily in the early going, will have their hands full once again.
