As expected, Drake Baldwin will be getting his shot with the Braves right out of the gate to start the 2025 season.
It may not be a surprise based on how spring training has gone when it comes to both performance and injury but the Atlanta Braves still dropped some significant roster news on us just now. The Braves have announced that they have promoted Drake Baldwin to the major league roster, along with relievers Héctor Neris and Enyel de los Santos.

Again, it’s not really surprising that Baldwin has made the major league roster since (barring injury or calamitous performance in spring game action), it was pretty clear after Sean Murphy’s rib injury that a major league roster spot was right there for the taking for Baldwin. As such, Atlanta’s top prospect will be beginning the 2025 regular season with the big league club and he’s likely going to get plenty of action alongside Chadwick Tromp while Sean Murphy works on returning.
Meanwhile, the Braves have officially sealed up their bullpen business by bringing de los Santos and Neris into the big league fold. Both relievers have had very solid spring training performances so far and both relievers will be looking to bounce back after the two of them each had a rough go of it in 2024. Neris finished 2024 with an ERA of 4.10 (103 ERA-) and a FIP of 4.28 (107 FIP-) over the course of 59.1 innings pitched, while de los Santos bounced around with three teams and didn’t do particularly well with either of them as he finished with an ERA of 5.20 (130 ERA-) and a FIP of 5.96 (145 FIP-).
With these three moves, it certainly appears as if the Braves have their Opening Day roster set and there shouldn’t be too many surprises once the official annoucement is made next week.
