There are also a couple of minor tweaks to the uniform, once again. Uniform nerds, unite!
Earlier this week, I went on a bit of a tangent within an article that was meant to cover the return to spring training for the Atlanta Braves. You’ll have to forgive me for that, as I, uh, have a history of writing about such things. I could talk all day about sports logos and uniforms, so this news from Uni-Watch was right up my alley.
So the big news is that the Braves are going to be wearing the 2025 All-Star Game patch on their navy caps with the red brim. They won’t be wearing them on the City Connect hats and they also won’t be wearing them on the all-navy caps either and that’s because — wait for it — the all-navy caps are gone. The all-navy caps that the Braves have worn exclusively on the road since all the way back in 2008 (and with the road grays starting in 2009) are apparently a thing of the past.
While there wasn’t particularly any confirmation of this fact, it’s easy to put two-and-two together. The all-navy caps were present in the 2024 style guide and paired with the road uniforms but now they’re nowhere to be found. We’ve still got a ways to go between now and Opening Day in San Diego but let me tell y’all, I will be thrilled if the Braves pull up to Petco Park wearing the red-brim hats. It’s the best look for them, it’s what I grew up with and it’s just something that needed to happen ever since the all-navy uniforms went the way of the dodo ahead of the 2019 season.

Staying on the navy blue train, my suspicions in the article from earlier last week were confirmed as well: The navy blue jerseys in 2025 will indeed be a darker (e.g. normal) shade of navy blue and the names on the back of the jersey are back to their normal size. These are all positive changes so far, which is why it was a bit of a bummer to learn that the belt-loop piping is still missing on the road gray pants. If you want to see what I’m talking about, check out this article from Uni-Watch on the subject. Until that gets fixed, the traditional Braves uniform is still somewhat unfinished-looking. I’d imagine that we’ll probably have to wait until 2026 for that to get fixed, though.
Other than the All-Star Game patch being on the hats, the shade of blue being fixed and the belt loop piping still being missing on the road grays, that sums up the tweaks that the Braves have made to their uniforms. It’s still the classic look that we’re all used to, except with a couple of tiny wrinkles. Are any of y’all going to run out and pick up a hat with the All-Star Game logo on it?
