The Georgia-native was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Earlier this afternoon, reports circulated that former President of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter, passed away. He was 100. The native of Plains, Ga., was also a former Governor of the state of Georgia.
After his time in politics, he founded the Carter Center, was extraordinarily active with Habitat for Humanity, and dedicated much of his life to humanitarian causes, which earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his humanitarianism.
Through the last six decades, Carter was a passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves. He and his late wife Rosalyn, who passed in 2023, were frequent attendees at Braves games – typically sitting at field level. He threw out numerous first pitches over the years, including prior to Game 6 of the 1995 World Series – which the Braves won – bringing the first World Series Championship to Atlanta.
The Atlanta Braves issued a statement just before 6PM Eastern on the passing of the former President.
