Chris Sale’s final tune-up before the regular season
By this time next week, we’ll know whether or not the Atlanta Braves are going 162-0 or 161-1 this season. In all seriousness though, it’s pretty exciting to think about the fact that the regular season is officially within sight. For now, the Braves are still in Florida and today they’ll be taking on the Rays as they continue to make their final preparations for the upcoming season.
Here are the lineups:
Chris Sale is starting today and with this, he’ll be able to start on Opening Day with an extra day of rest. They did this a lot las season and I’d imagine that they’ll continue to do it here in 2025 because, well, if it ain’t broke then you don’t want to fix it then, right? Mark Bowman mentioned this in a tweet yesterday and also mentioned that this means that AJ Smith-Shawver is currently in line to be on regular rest to start the fifth game of the season. It’s all coming together, it seems.
Speaking of a picture starting to become clear, that’s a pretty strong lineup that the Braves are putting out there today. I know I’m not going out on a limb here or anything like that but that’s a good look at what’s probably going to be the Opening Day lineup. Eli White may not get the start but he’s definitely earned himself an Opening Day roster spot with his work in spring action so far.
