Visiting San Diego has been kind. Los Angeles, not so much.
The Braves will end Spring Training in Arizona and start their season on the West Coast. I’m honestly glad they get that the trip to Southern California out of the way early this year. And at least they will be on Pacific Time (or the equivalent Mountain Standard Time, Arizona is different) for three days prior.
How many games will the Braves win in Southern California to start the year? The Braves have been swept in Los Angeles three of the last five trips, while they have beaten San Diego twelve of the last fifteen regular season games. It’s a .467 winning percentage for the last eight years there. So history would suggest they get 3 of the 7 games there.
Another advantage of starting the season in Southern California is that there is no mandatory off-day after Opening Day this year. You don’t need that rainout buffer in Southern California. You’d need rain out there in April for that.
