Old friend Jesse Chavez has, at least temporarily, found a new home.
The man, the myth, and the legend Jesse Chavez signed a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers the team announced Monday afternoon.

Chavez has been a stalwart in the Braves bullpen the last 4 seasons, posting a 2.87 ERA over 190 innings despite consistently only procuring minor league deals in free agency. Chavez was famously traded to the Angels in the Raisel Iglesias deal at the trade deadline of the 2022 season, only to be signed back by Atlanta a couple weeks later after the Angels DFA’d him after 10 very bad innings. When he pitches with the Braves, he’s been nails. When pitching for anyone else, it’s been a mess.
All that to say expect Chavez and the Braves to make another reunion at some point in the 2025 season and don’t be surprised if he’s getting big outs out of the bullpen, even at age 41.
Until then, Godspeed Jesse and thanks for the incredible 86 mph ride that still to this day makes no sense. See you in a couple months.
