In any given spring training game, teams always want to make sure that above all else, their players get out of the game healthy and ready to take on the season. Unfortunately, everybody associated with the Atlanta Braves is going to have a bit of a nervy afternoon here as it appears that the injury bug is coming to life yet again. Just under a week after Sean Murphy went on the shelf due to cracked ribs, Jurickson Profar was forced to exit today’s game after suffering an apparent injury to his wrist or left arm in general.
Profar landed on his left arm awkwardly after attempting to make a diving catch. He’s walking off the field pointing toward the forearm area. Will update when we learn more.

As Mark Bowman of MLB.com mentioned in his post, Profar got hurt while trying to make a diving catch and to say that it was awkward is a perfect reflection. Profar actually made the diving catch for a split second but landed extremely awkwardly and immediately got rid of his glove before writhing in pain for a bit.
After getting checked out by the training staff and talked to by Brian Snitker, Profar walked off under his own power but he was definitely favoring his left arm on the way to the clubhouse. It’s a huge bummer to see this happen and honestly, it would be completely and utterly fantastic if this all ends up being just a big scare. For now, we’ll bring you updates as they come.
[UPDATE (2:50 p.m. ET)]: The first update has come and there’s some initial good news: The X-Rays were negative for any type of structural damage, so there’s that.
OF Jurickson Profar was removed from today’s game with a jammed left wrist. Initial X-rays were negative, and he is set to undergo further testing at a time yet to be determined.

Hopefully the further testing continues to confirm that there’s nothing too serious going on. With that being said, a jammed left wrist certainly sounds like anything but a good time, so this is certainly something to keep an eye on going forward. For now, just keep your fingers crossed that this continues to be just a bump in the road for Jurickson Profar instead of a potential trip to the IL.
