Ozuna isn’t in Monday night’s lineup for the Braves. In fact, he’s back in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Braves are probably getting extremely tired of having their most talented players either go on the shelf or get suspended. There’s been another injury scare and this time it involves the team’s most consistent hitter for the past season and into this year as well. Marcell Ozuna was seen limping during yesterday’s game in Tampa against the Rays and as it turns out, the Braves were concerned enough about his hip that they sent him back to Atlanta for an MRI.
Fortunately, as Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting, “nothing serious” was found in the MRI.
Braves sent Marcell Ozuna back to Atlanta for an exploratory MRI on his hip. It showed inflammation but nothing serious. He’s day to day.

Obviously, there should be a huge sigh of relief that Ozuna’s hip doesn’t appear to have any structural damage going on. Still, as I mentioned earlier, Ozuna has been one of the rare consistent performers at the plate for a long time now and they’ve definitely going to miss him while he’s out. Hopefully it won’t be for too long but it does appear that we probably won’t be seeing him until the Braves return home to face the Twins this weekend.
For now, the Braves will have to make do without Ozuna, who is currently hitting .306/.477/.531 with a .446 wOBA, 188 wRC+ and three home runs.
