We got a positive injury update on the Braves’ star catcher who is hoping to have a bounce-back season
MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reported that Braves catcher Sean Murphy was cleared for some baseball activities this week.
He still seems to be doing relatively low intensity activities on both sides of the ball, but Bowman reports that he could rejoin the Braves’ lineup in three weeks or less. That would mean he would only miss roughly 15 games to start the season. I would hope that he isn’t rushed back and can thoroughly ramp up for the season, after having taken a few weeks off with the broken rib as he was going through Spring Training.
Murphy will be hoping to bounce back to his former All-Star level, after an Opening Day oblique injury derailed his 2024 season and he was never able to find his top form again. Murphy does seem optimistic, as he told Bowman that he thinks this is a much easier injury to recover from and still feels like he can hit that elite level of play.
