Let’s take a look back at what really popped off last season.
Despite the fact that it’s January 2, I’d like to wish you a Happy New Year if nobody else has. If you’ve heard it a million times by now then let me be No. 1,000,001 then. Either way, I hope that everybody rung in the New Year in a fun and safe way. Now we’re about to get into what should hopefully be a fun 2025 for not just our Atlanta Braves but baseball as a whole.
Before we do that, I figured that it would be fun to follow our sister SB Nation baseball blogs and take a look back at the ten most-read articles here on Battery Power back in 2024. Spoiler alert: The weather is a big deal.
10) May 15: Ronald Acuña Jr., Austin Riley out of Braves’ lineup Wednesday
This was the first game of 2024 that Ronald Acuña Jr. missed and fortunately it turned out to be just a day of rest. Unfortunately for the Braves, this would end up being far from the only game in 2024 where Atlanta was missing multiple regulars as the story of the season was the injury bug’s persistence in absolutely swarming this team.
9) June 27: Chris Sale, Braves look to end road trip on good note
This was the preview for a game where the Braves were sending the suddenly-dominant-again Chris Sale out here for a start against the lowly White Sox. Here’s a not-so fun fact: The 2024 White Sox actually won seven season-series matchups and of course, one of them was against the Atlanta Braves as Chicago went on to win this one 2-1 to clinch the season series.
8) June 25: Braves, Cardinals rain delay updates
This is the first time that a rain delay update post made the list and it certainly won’t be the last. It won’t even be the last time that this involves both the Braves and the Cardinals, as these two had to deal with weather issues both at Busch Stadium and Truist Park. Go figure.
7) February 19: Bally Sports will televise eight Braves Spring Training games
This announcement came in mid-February, which meant that it was officially time to start getting excited about seeing the Braves on TV again — even if it’s only spring training games. The good news is that there will be even more televised spring training games here in 2025, so you can get excited about that as well.
6) Atlanta Braves 2024 Regular Season Schedule and Results
This was an ongoing post that we kept updated for the entire season. There’s not much else to say other than thank you to everybody who continued to frequent that post. We know that a lot of y’all trust us for even basic information like this so I’d like to thank you for trusting us and that we’ll continue to stay on top of things heading into next season and beyond.
5) March 14: Kelly Crull not returning to Braves broadcasts in 2024
The Braves have had a long line of popular sideline reporters and Kelly Crull certainly became popular during her time in that role. Her contract with the RSN expired before the season started and while she may not be on TV regularly anymore, she’s still publicly talking about the Braves.
4) July 19: Braves, Cardinals rain delay updates
Déjà vu? For the second time in as many months, the Braves and Cardinals had one of their games get affected by the weather. This time, it took a while before the powers that be eventually decided to call this one off and all of y’all were with us every step of the way as we kept the updates coming.
3) May 18: Padres, Braves rain delay updates
The only baseball that was played at Truist Park on this night was when Blooper got on the field and played wiffle ball with a few of his pals. Other than that, this was another rain delay update post that resulted in the game being rained out. You stuck with us the whole way an we all appreciate you for that.
2) Atlanta Braves 2024 Draft Pick Signing Tracker
The Braves may not have had a high draft pick for a while now but that still hasn’t dampened the excitement around here when it comes to the MLB Draft. This is always an exciting time here on Battery Power and on 2024, it was no different. Everybody was locked in to see who the Braves were drafting, so it’s not particularly shocking to see this post all the way up here.
1) October 10: Kevin Seitzer reacts to Braves firing
One of the first big stories of the offseason was the Braves doing an about-face when it came to keeping their previous coaching staff intact. After declaring that the entire coaching staff would be returning, the Braves turned around and shook things up by firing former hitting coach Kevin Seitzer. We covered Seitzer’s reaction to getting let go and it turned out that plenty of y’all were very interested in hearing his story.
I’d like to thank everybody who read not just these articles but every article that was posted on Battery Power in 2024. This site doesn’t exist without a strong community of readers like you and I’m saying that as someone who’s been a regular reader for over a decade, now. This site has only gotten better and better over the years and I’m proud to be able to say that I’ve played a role in making that progress happen. Hopefully y’all will continue to rock with us as we move forward into 2025 and beyond. Thank you!
