There are lots of places to choose from
Are y’all aware that there have been games that count in the standings played yesterday and today? I was only vaguely aware this would be happening before yesterday, and was kind of shocked that I missed an actual this-time-it-counts baseball game I could’ve watched yesterday. (I saw today’s.) It feels like it just crept up on us without the usual fanfare, but maybe I’m just living under the proverbial rock these days.
Anyway, Wikipedia handily tells me that non-exhibition games played by MLB teams have occurred in the following international locations:
- Mexico (1996, 1999, 2018, 2019, 2024);
- Japan (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2019, 2025);
- Australia (2014);
- United Kingdom (2019, 2019, 2024); and
- South Korea (2024).
That leaves, oh, well, north of about 190 countries where baseball could be played, but hasn’t been. So, what should be next?
