They’ll break your heart. Not mine, just yours.
The minor league crew covered the biggest prospect risers in the system yesterday, so you can bet your prized family heirloom golden dollars that they’ll be covering the biggest prospect fallers later today.
On that note, which prospect’s bust was the most disappointing for you? There are lots to choose from, because, well, prospects go bust, all the time. There are your Kevin Maitans, albeit maybe not with so much intensity: big hype, nothing to show for it. There are countless others with less fanfare — maybe one was special to you in the heartbreak they caused? Maybe it was one of the Braves’ seemingly ever-present cadre of potential fourth starters. Bryse Wilson, anyone? There are your Derian Cruzes, too — well, maybe just Derian Cruz, the guy that was never confirmed to exist, so he probably caused very little anguish in retrospect.
Again, the criteria for inclusion here are entirely up to you. Michael Soroka had that one beautiful season before injuries took their ghastly toll. He could count, if you want him to.
On that note, it’s probably handy to link to this awesome bit of work from Ben Clemens at FanGraphs that went up just yesterday — yes, prospects bust, unless they have a really shiny FV grade, basically, and maybe even then if the sample size gets large enough.
