Why do we watch this maddening sport?
Baseball. They play a lot of regular season games for a reason. (Well, multiple reasons.) A single game can hinge on anything, and some of the stuff is truly ridiculous.
Wind turns a near-certain homer into a routine flyout, as appeared to happen multiple times in yesterday’s Spring Training game. A mashed liner turns into an easy double play because it’s hit right at the first baseman. An easy grounder takes a weird hop off the mound, or off a base bag.
Oh, but that’s just one category. Maybe it’s a juggernaut offensive team that inexplicably can’t hit a not-so-good pitcher that isn’t even having a good day. Maybe it’s a stupid injury. Maybe it’s when there was a rain delay at a stadium with a roof, or a rain delay with no rain whatsoever. You tell me — what kills you the most?
