Here’s how the FTRS staff thinks Tech will do against Vandy in the Birmingham Bowl!
Benjamin Tankersley
Georgia Tech wins 35-31.
I think this one stays close throughout and is really just a great game. But ultimately, I think Tech has more firepower on offense and pulls this one out in the end. I’m curious to see how well the defense contains Pavia for Vandy. That could make or break this game for the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech wins 30-27
I’m…mostly confident we’ll get the job done. Rutherford coming back certainly has swung this somewhat for me to truly make us two dimensional if we want. A couple guys including Kyle Efford got surgery and won’t be playing, which will affect our run defense. I both 1. don’t want our guys to get anymore hurt than they are, and 2. blow the freakin doors off Vanderbilt. Haynes King is as healthy as he’s been in awhile. Considering he doesn’t exactly get worse as time goes on, this could be one of the best King games we’ve seen ever. No matter what, it’s going to be fun making the trip with friends and I add another bowl game on the list of ones I’ve been to.
Logan Sandor
Georgia Tech wins 52-50 in 7 OTs
I think this will be a wild back and forth game. Both teams are lacking transfers on defense which leave them more vulnerable. Both teams have strong offenses and scrambling QBs who can both run and throw. I believe GTs offense will get the job done, but it will take a hard fought effort to overcome this Vanderbilt team. Good matchup and bowl insanity is at an all time high right now, should be a fun game.
Jake Patterson
Georgia Tech wins 28-24.
Georgia Tech takes this one 28-24, in an all-time classic that involves each quarterback snagging two rushing touchdowns. The Magic City is Tech’s.
Jake Grant
Georgia Tech wins 38-28.
There’s been a lot of play about how both teams played tough schedules and have been inconsistent. I think there is a truth to this, but I think I like Tech’s floor better than Vandy’s, I have faith in the active production and experience that’ll be on the field, and I think Brent Key has shown he can get a team ready to play. Let’s take Tech with a score to put it away late. Go Jackets!
