What’s the worst that could happen?
Benjamin Tankersley
The worst-case scenario for Georgia Tech begins with a jet-lagged performance in Dublin where the Yellow Jackets just look lost against Florida State. After dragging themselves back to Atlanta, they are hungover against Georgia State who treats this game as their Super Bowl and wins. The season slumps along and fans are miserable. It’s injuries galore, the offense regresses, the defense doesn’t improve. The Yellow Jackets finish with just 2 or 3 wins, and fans begin to wonder if Georgia Tech is just doomed to eternal mediocrity.

We lose all the coin flip games and to all the big names, beating only VMI, GSU, Syracuse, and Duke. In this case, we’ve probably had multiple injuries on both sides of the ball that force some true freshman to play that never were supposed to. It’s a 4-8 season that by November we are just ready to be over with because we know we can barely scratch out points and our defense didn’t improve any notable amount.

1-11 record with the only win against VMI. As I said in my best-case prediction, I can see an argument for us winning every game we play in. At the same time I can see many more arguments for why we lose every game we play except against VMI. Let’s face it, we have a bad defense and King turns the ball over a lot. We lost to bowling green last year, which should’ve never happened. For every game we can win we are just as likely, if not more likely to lose.
