Here’s how the FTRS Staff think the MARTA Bowl is gonna go!
Benjamin Tankersley
Georgia Tech wins 41-7.
This game shouldn’t be and won’t be close. I haven’t gotten much of an opportunity to talk about it, so I’ll use this space to do so. I hate Georgia State. Like an absurd amount. And that’s for two reasons:
- I work for Georgia Southern, so I’m contractually obligated to hate Georgia State and remind them that we are the real GSU.
- Their fans on Twitter are among the most annoying I have ever encountered. And they don’t have the success (historic or current) to back it up. I just don’t know where that comes from, but it’s a large part of the reason I hate Georgia State.
If I was basing my prediction based on what I wanted to happen instead of what I think would happen, my prediction would be 223-0.
Logan Sandor
Georgia Tech wins 38-20.
I think this game will have some scarier parts than we expect. Tech has the talent and experience from our first game this year to be able to win this handily in the long run. Georgia State has a totally new coach with totally new talent in transfers this offseason… I don’t expect the Panthers to be cohesive, but I also think its tough to game plan for a team you know literally nothing about. I think we will break away as the game goes on and probably win comfortably, but early on some adjustments will need to happen before we settle in. At least that’s what I’m hoping, I have been proven wrong on these G5 games before. I’m looking forward to the future when we don’t have to stress out over playing the majority of G5 opponents anymore, its been a weak point for us the past few years and I’d like it if we can put those losing ways behind us.

Georgia Tech wins 49-10
It’s the dreaded trap game, looking ahead to Syracuse after a quick turn from a major upset overseas in Ireland. Georgia Tech hasn’t beaten a G5 team since USF in 2019 and that was with a goal line fumble by the Bulls in an uncomfortable 10-7 win. Here is something you would be a fool to do, use anything under the Collins era as a back test for this year’s team. Yes, Key was at the helm for the Bowling Green loss in his first full year, and they should be expected to beat them, but Bowling Green did go 7-6 and a near win over Minnesota in a bowl.
Georgia State for their first matchup with their next-door neighbor gets to do so with a brand new coaching staff that was hired late into the spring after their former head coach took a position with South Carolina. As expected, many transferred from a successful team left. It’ll be a game where Georgia State will look to find a new footing with a depleted roster.
Georgia Tech on the other hand has a game under their belt and has shown improvement in areas of deficiency from last year. The offensive and defensive fronts looked in sync and the returning skill players picked up where they left off last year. The Yellow Jackets are the better team, will play like it, and the score will prove it. Georgia State is the first game this season Tech should win and there will be no hiccups.

Georgia Tech wins 40-7
From realizing I named this game the MARTA Bowl to the level of engagement this game has brought the Tech and Panther fanbases with each other, I’m so glad this game is happening and is a home and home instead of a buy game for us.
Thing is though, we have a different football team than what the GSU media would like for you to believe. This team has shown they continue to learn from their mistakes and improve upon them. I have no worries that this will be a steady pounding of the Panthers that doesn’t even need to be flashy on the scoreboard, it just needs to be won in the trenches and we’ll be heading to Syracuse next weekend 2-0.
