DressHerInWhiteAndGold: How do you rank your favorite seasons?
Ben: My favorite is definitely Fall. It’s just the nicest time of year. It’s starting to get cooler outside, and there’s no pollen. Also, Football is great, and you get Thanksgiving which is an S-tier holiday. Beyond that, I’ll say Winter, Summer, and then Spring. Heat sucks, but pollen is worse.
Jack: Summer, Spring, Fall, Winter. Summer: There’s not much more I love than summer days on a lake. Even a couple years out of school, summer still means it’s break time for me, so it’s always going to have a theme of resetting for me. I also generally do not like being cold, so having a whole season where I don’t get cold is great for me. Spring: the beginning of warm days, Opening Day, The Masters, NBA Playoffs, lager season returns, it’s all great. Fall: Football is back, need I say more? Winter: Cold, too dark. But, great for television and movies so it’s a great time to be on top of the cultural trends.
Jake: I am a huge fan of spring. The weather gets nicer, and the grass gets greener. I also get the “hope springs eternal”-type nostalgia all Cubs fans are imbued with. Even after years in Atlanta, life and attitude still turns a nice corner when the days get longer and the weather gets nice again. After that, it’s probably fall, winter, and summer, in that order. That said, I don’t hate winter or summer weather, I just like the others better.
GTSMURF: What do you expect to learn from the Spring game this Saturday?
Ben: Frankly, I don’t know that I expect to learn much. It will be our first look at what Santucci’s defense is going to look like, which is exciting, but I wouldn’t expect to see anything very complex. On offense, we’ll at least get a glimpse of what some of the changes will be personnel-wise. But it’s a Spring game, I’m not going to expect to come away thinking that Tech is going to win the ACC. I’ll have a deeper preview go up Friday afternoon.
Jack: I remember last spring game liking what I saw from King, and whaddya know, he became the QB. Of course that was the thing from that game we all were paying attention to, so it was easy to make the center of attention. It is just an exhibition so like what Ben said, I don’t have huge expectations of learning something that will be transformative. A general idea of what the depth chart is will be nice to see.
Jake: To be honest, I will be at the Louisville vs. Tech softball game, so anything I get from the game will have to be after the fact. I don’t know how much one can truly glean from staff overhauls or anything like that, given that it’s an intrasquad scrimmage. I suppose the biggest thing I look forward to in spring games is to see some of the new folks in action, mainly for the novelty.
