With Aerosmith calling it quits…Which performers are on your “must see” list before they age out OR, which one do you regret missing?
Frodo Swagginz: There are a few analysts naming Georgia Tech as one of the most important teams in the playoff race. Pretend you’re on the Playoff Selection Committee. What is the absolute bottom performance you would accept to place them in the playoffs Yes, I know this is a pipe dream, but this is America and I can do what I want.
Jack: Tech is important not only because of the fact we might actually have a resume, but because of our potential to massively shake up the rankings because of who we play. Playing FSU, ND, and uga all in the same season can make or break playoff hopes for any of those teams depending on how things shake out.
Now, to get to more how you’re asking this, Tech with 1 loss anywhere makes in it, 2 losses with one in the ACC title game might not be enough. 3 losses and we aren’t sniffing it.
Logan: obviously if we’re the ACC champion we get the auto bid, and the ACC has had some weird records for champions, so losses to uga and ND with let’s say a 1 or two loss record in the ACC… its happened before so it’s not impossible for us to be 8-4 and in as an ACC champion. More than likely though the consideration would be as Jack described above if we can’t win the ACC Championship.
Chris: Putting the ACC Champion auto-bid aside probably 2 losses at most, and those two losses have to have been to very good teams.
DressHerInWhiteAndGold: Have we enjoyed the Olympics? What events captured your attention? I’ve watched all the Skeet and Trap, Vincent Hancock from Middle GA is the MAN. Track, especially middle distance, wish they’d put more on the shotput, looked in on diving because of the fella from Moultrie, rowing is really worth a look every 4 years, waiting for ‘28 Los Angeles where everything will be in Primetime.
Jack: It’s been the best Olympics for me since London. Between going (still gotta write that piece) and following while on the road, it’s been so cool to be in multiple parts of the world but people everywhere in some form are following it. I
Logan: Been a big fan of all the volleyball this year. The fencing has been intense as well. Other than that I’ve only caught glimpses of things here or there.
Chris: I’ve had a blast watching this year. My main focus at the start was tennis, but now that that’s over I just turn on GoldZone and go along with whatever’s on.
Drew: I love watching the badminton and beach volleyball, but I’ve also been enjoying water polo this year.
Ludwig Zerela: It seems like GT is responding well to Coach Key. For someone out of town, how do you rate the fanbase’s excitement for the coming season? I was impressed by the offensive talent on last year’s team when GT’s games were televised…more of the same in 2024?
Jack: This is as excited as the fanbase has been in at least five years. We actually know this team can and should win games, and at worst be competitive against the best teams.
DressHerInWhiteAndGold: With Aerosmith calling it quits…Which performers are on your “must see” list before they age out OR, which one do you regret missing?
Jack: Missing R.E.M. easily is top of my list. I’m holding out hope they decide to do a few shows just one more time when they realize they don’t need to be at their A-game to make generations absurdly happy to see them again. Of those still actually playing, Willie Nelson and Joni Mitchell (although she doing basically no shows anymore) are in my top tier of artists I haven’t seen live yet that have a super tiny window of opportunity left to see.
