Heading into Week 3, the SEC is firmly positioned as the best conference in the nation. For the first time ever, six of the top seven teams in the polls are from the same conference… the SEC. However, not everyone is feeling great in the conference. Let’s check-in on the headline makers around the SEC.
- Auburn quarterback Payton Thorne has said that some bettors have sent him Venmo requests for bets they lost from the Tigers’ loss to Cal. Thorne may not have much more time as the Auburn starting QB, as backup Hank Brown is set to receive increased reps with the first team this week at practice.
- We officially have a QB controversy in Gainesville, as both Graham Mertz and DJ Lagway will get playing time this weekend against Texas A&M.
- Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is now the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. Luckily, we haven’t seen Texas crumbled under heightened expectations before, especially not in the past 15 or so years.
- Vanderbilt received 18 AP Poll votes this week, ten more than last week. Rank them, you cowards.
