In a move that wasn’t particularly unexpected, Carson Beck has announced that he will be drawing the curtain on his UGA career and entering the 2025 NFL Draft.
Beck of course was already ruled out for the College Football Playoff after suffering an elbow injury against Texas in the SEC Championship Game. Ironically, his final snap in a Bulldog uniform will have been the handoff he made on the game-winning touchdown in relief of Gunner Stockton.
Beck threw for 7,912 yards and 58 touchdowns versus 20 interceptions, starting every game for Georgia in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. But for one painful, interception-laden month of the 2024 season he put together one of the more statistically impressive runs in Bulldog history. On a personal note, he’ll always have my respect and appreciation for sticking around after three years to take the reins from Stetson Bennett.
On another note, Gunner Stockton now finds himself with the opportunity to lead the Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff. If he can help engineer a playoff run, Stockton is likely your prohibitive favorite for the 2025 starting job, and Georgia is likely out of the market for a transfer portal QB.
