If your Georgia Bulldogs are still playing for a spot I. The College Football Playoff, but doing so against a suddenly resurgent old rival looking to spoil everything, you could probably use a drink.
I can help you with that.
This has been a worrisome season of Bulldog football. We’ve gone from high highs to low lows then back again, dragged along in the wake of a team that can’t decide whether it’s a national title contender or a train looking for a chance to derail. But you have to admit, we have a lot to be thankful for. Off the top of my head:
I’m thankful that Georgia is still in control of its playoff destiny. Only a small handful of teams can say that at this juncture.
I’m thankful that we’ve witnessed a really exciting season of college football. From Army and Indiana being surprisingly good, to Vanderbilt knocking off Alabama, and SMU and Miami partying like it’s 1985, it’s been a wild one.
I’m also a little thankful that the SEC eliminated divisions. Ask yourself: are you 100% confident that we wouldn’t have caught either Vandy or South Carolina on the wrong Saturday and embarrassed ourselves in the process? Me neither.
I’m thankful for this call:

I’m thankful for Ben Yurosek starting to figure it out. And for Nate Frazier picking up steam.
I’m thankful that Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey came to Athens, because I’m starting to fully understand that the last three years of my football fandom could have been very different without them.
I’m thankful for all of you who read and comment through the wins and the losses. You’re the reason for this site.
And I’m thankful for a good cocktail, like the one I encourage you to enjoy tomorrow. The cranberry gin fizz. You’ll need:
- 3. ounces of gin – I use Tanqueray London Dry gin.
- 3 ounces unsweetened cranberry juice (not cranberry juice cocktail).
- Juice of one orange
- Juice of one lime
- tonic water
- ice
- fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig– Just for garnish
This recipe makes enough for two drinks. First add the gin, cranberry juice, orange juice, lime juice and a handful of ice to a cocktail shaker and shake to combine. Pour over a handful of ice in a glass and top it off with a few splashes of tonic water. Lastly, garnish with the fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig. Enjoy responsibly, and…
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
