if your Georgia Bulldogs are headed on the road for another top 20 SEC showdown with a team that may need to beat the Red and Black to keep their playoff hopes alive, then you could probably use a drink. I can help you with that.
I normally leave the Munsoning to GlimmerTwinDawg, but this feels like one of those weeks when there’s plenty of worrying to go around. Jaxson Dart is playing his best football. The Rebel defense has ten more sacks than the next closest SEC team and more than twice as many (41/20) sacks as the visiting Bulldogs.
Did I mention that the Fightin’ Kiffins are tied for the lead in the SEC in turnover margin (+7) while the Bulldogs are 13th? I should probably mention that.
In short, there’s every reason to be concerned about this one.
So what’s the cocktail to nurse when your team is headed to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for a fraught matchup with an Ole Miss team that could very easily be undefeated?
A Fraught Hemingway.
Vaught Hemingway Stadium takes its name from Judge William Hemingway, an Ole Miss graduate who served as Mississippi’s assistant attorney general and mayor of the city of Jackson. This libation however is a tribute to a different Hemingway, the legendary author Ernest Hemingway, famously a fan of rum in a variety of combinations, and accompanied by just about anything or nothing at all. This one includes a tart and tangy assortment of ingredients bound to take the edge off what looks to be a pretty edge of your seat affair in Oxford. You’ll need:
- 1 1⁄2 oz. dark rum
- 1 oz. light rum
- 1 oz. banana liqueur
- 1 oz. blackberry liqueur
- 2 oz. pineapple juice
- 1/2 oz. lime juice
- Splash of grenadine
- Pineapple wedge for garnish
- Blackberries for garnish
Add an handful of ice to a cocktail shaker then pour in the rums, liqueurs, pineapple juice, lime juice, and grenadine. Shake until chilled fully then strain into a glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with pineapple and blackberries and enjoy. Until later….
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
