When Carson Beck hopped in the portal last week many thought it was because his services were no longer needed by Kirby Smart and Georgia. But according to USA Today writer Matt Hayes, the Bulldogs were the very first call trying to get him back.
And Alabama was reportedly the second.
Beck ended up signing with the Miami Hurricanes 48 hours after his decision to transfer. But apparently it wasn’t without a fight from Alabama‘s Kalen DeBoer who wanted the former four-star recruit to come down to Tuscaloosa and compete for a starting job with Ty Simpson and freshman Keelon Russell.
REPORT: Georgia wanted Carson Beck to return for the 2025 season after entering the Transfer Portal, per @MattHayesCFB.

Fans reacted to the interesting revelation on Wednesday.
“There is quite literally a zero percent chance Alabama inquired with Carson Beck,” a Bama alum replied. “We got 3 dudes in the QB room that’s better than him.”
“REPORT: There is 0.00% chance Alabama called Carson Beck,” an account said.
“Breaking News! Alabama has three backup QB’s better than Carson Beck and this sourced report has a zero percent chance of being true!” a user posted.
“For those who don’t know Carson Beck was originally committed to Alabama,” a fan pointed out.
“Was this made up by Carson’s agent?” another person asked.
Beck chose to follow his girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, to the University of Miami where she stars alongside her sister on the Canes’ women’s basketball team.
For all the criticism levied the UGA QB’s way, he still got Georgia to the SEC title game and threw for nearly 3,500 yards and 28 touchdowns.
We’ll see what version of Carson we ultimately get in Coral Gables but he definitely makes Miami interesting going into 2025.
