The Georgia Diamond Dawgs completed another stellar week of play, sweeping the Florida Gators in Gainesville. Prior to the series, Georgia hadn’t earned a series win over Florida in Gainesville since 2006. The Dawgs have now claimed the number three spot in the most recent NCAA baseball rankings, sitting only behind Tennessee and Arkansas.
In game one, Georgia earned a close come-from-behind 8-7 win. The Dawgs were down 7-6 heading into the top of the ninth until Ryland Zaborowski cranked his nation-leading 13th homer of the year for a two-run shot as it would be all the Dawgs needed to close things out.

Game two would be a completely different story in terms of competition as the Dawgs put belt to tail against the Gators, earning a dominant 17-4 win. Devin Obee crushed two homers on the day, while Robbie Burnett, Christian Adams, Brennan Hudson, and Kolby Branch each added a few of their own.

The Diamond Dawgs capped off the series with another dominant showing in game three. This time around, Georgia put things to an end early, hitting their way to a 15-4 seven-inning run-rule win. For the second time in the series, Georgia blasted six total home runs on the day. Christian Adams had two while Ryland Zaborowski, Nolan McCarthy, Robbie Burnett, and Slate Alford also hit some of their own.

The Dawgs’ lineup is without a doubt the most electrifying group in College Baseball and they continue to prove it week in and week out. Georgia’s bomb squad has launched 70 homers through 26 games while earning an overall team average of .320 and a slugging percentage of .626. Both Ryland Zaborowski and Robbie Burnett are early Golden Spikes Award candidates as Zaborowski leads the NCAA with 14 homers along with an unreal .467 batting average, while Burnett has launched 13 homers of his own to go along with his .383 batting average.
Georgia will now get a couple of days of rest before taking on the in-state West Georgia Wolves on Tuesday in Athens. Following that one, Georgia will remain at home to take on the Auburn Tigers in a three-game series.
That’s all for this edition of Diamond Dawg weekly recap. As always, Go Dawgs!!
