Saturday night, the eyes of the college football world will be trained on Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the showdown between the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide and No. 2 Georgia.
Former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for this year’s general election, will be in attendance for the marquee matchup as a guest of Alabama businessman Ric Mayers. Part of Mayers’ duties for hosting the 78-year-old politician include making sure the food Trump requested will be available for him during the game.
As for what Trump asked for, it’s a pretty basic menu, or “mundane” as Mayers told AL.com.
“Trump requested two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches with cheese from McDonald’s, stadium hotdogs, Domino’s pizza and Diet Coke, Mayers said. Trump has previously requested McDonald’s while visiting Alabama, state GOP officials said,” wrote AL.com’s Carol Robinson.
Upon further review, the content of Trump’s meal request isn’t that surprising. Remember, he has an admitted affinity for fast food and even served it to multiple national championship teams that visited the White House during his presidency.
All-time, this will be the third Alabama game Trump has attended, and the second Alabama-Georgia meeting he’s shown up for. The first one was the Crimson Tide’s victory over the Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in January 2018.
Trump was also at Bryant-Denny Stadium for Alabama’s 2019 home matchup with LSU, which the Tigers won on their way to an undefeated season and national title.
Alabama and Georgia will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday night on ABC.
