As you kick back and well, I don’t know if “celebrate” is necessarily the right word….as you consider the Red and Black’s win over UMass, there are some other college football games of import for your viewing pleasure this evening. Let’s start with the afternoon slate, already in progress:
3:30 p.m. | No. 4 Penn State at Minnesota | CBS
PJ Fleck and the Golden Gophers could do something very funny here.
3:30 p.m. | No. 14 BYU at No. 21 Arizona State | ESPN
The Cougars and the Sun Devils playing a late season game with serious playoff implications, just like we all expected.
3:30 p.m. | No. 16 Colorado vs. Kansas (at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri) | FOX
Kansas just might be the best 4-6 team in the Big XII, which given that there are currently five of those is saying more than you’d otherwise expect.
For the night shift there’s
7:30 p.m. | No. 7 Alabama at Oklahoma | ABC/ESPN+
Brent Venables could really use an upset here to salvage what’s been an underwhelming SEC debut season for the Sooners. Plus, Alabama losing is never not funny.
7:30 p.m. | No. 15 Texas A&M at Auburn | ESPN
Texas A&M needs to avoid the look ahead syndrome to win on the road on the Plains. If they don’t they could find themselves looking to play spoiler next week against the Longhorns.
7:30 p.m. | No. 22 Iowa State at Utah | FOX
The Cyclines are still technically in the playoff hunt, though they need to take care of business against the Utes and need some help from their friends.
7:45 p.m. | Vanderbilt at LSU | SEC Network
This game actually has no playoff implications whatsoever. But it may have “Brian Kelly being thrown out of an airboat while wearing cement shoes” implications.
We’ll be back with the usual postgame programming shortly.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
